A New Album by The Mighty Alrighty
Necessary Disaster is the latest release from The Mighty Alrighty, an indie-rock collaboration between Andy Napolitano, Al Semler, and InterPow's Mike Hetman. This 14-track album is the product of a creative partnership between three multi-instrumentalists from diverse musical backgrounds. Built upon the songwriting foundation of Andy Napolitano, who contributes vocals and guitar, the album also features Al Semler on keyboards, trumpet, and mandolin, and Mike Hetman on drums, bass, banjo, and percussion.
The previous release from this creative partnership was Once Then Ifs in 2019. With Necessary Disaster, the band expands on its sound by incorporating a unique blend of alternative rock, hard rock, indie folk, and punk influences. Through collaboration, experimentation, and a shared passion for crafting a musical journey, the project evolved into a collection of songs that explore love, resilience, and navigating an uncertain world.
Ahead of the album's official release, the title track, Necessary Disaster, made its radio debut on BlowUpRadio, an Internet radio destination celebrating New Jersey's thriving independent music scene. The track's grand-piano opening and horns-dominant interlude offer a glimpse of the sonic exploration found throughout the album.
The artwork and visual identity for Necessary Disaster were designed by Mike Hetman, drawing inspiration from the bold imagery of classic pulp comics. Developed in tandem with the creation of the music itself, the artwork evokes the feelings Mike experienced while composing and performing his parts on the album. The end result is an aesthetic that carries the emotional weight of the music itself, expressing themes of relationships, uncertainty, and resilience.
